정치철학에 관련된 글을 살펴보고 있습니다
그런데 글의 저자분은 공동선(the common good)과 공공선(the public good) 을 구별하시더라구요
저자가 간단하게 설명해주시는걸로는 둘의 구분이 이해가 잘안가서 다른 논문들도 찾아보고 있는데
애초에 공공선과 공동선을 구분하고있는 글들 자체가 별로 없는것같습니다.....(제가 못찾은걸수도)
일단 영단어표기를 이용해서 제가 최대한 추측해본 바로는
공동선은 common이므로, 사회를 이루는 구성원들사이에서 일반적으로 공유되는 개인적 선(?) 이를테면 돈,지혜,아름다움 이런걸 말하고
공공선은 public이니까 개인의 선으로 환원될수없는 공동체의 선, 이를테면 구성원들의 조화로움, 안정
성 이런걸 말하는것같기도 한데
혹시 공공선과 공동선의 구분되는 뜻을 아시는 분이 가르침을 주시면 감사하겠습니다 ㅠㅠ

여기서는 공동선을 다음과 같이 정의합니다.
In ordinary political discourse, the “common good” refers to those facilities—whether material, cultural or institutional—that the members of a community provide to all members in order to fulfill a relational obligation they all have to care for certain interests that they have in common.
공공선은 다음과 같이 정의합니다.
In economic theory, a public good is a particular type of good that members of a community would not possess if they were each motivated only by their own self-interest.
공공선은 특정 공동체의 각 행위자가 자신의 이득을 최대로 취하려고 할 때 자기 이외의 다른 행위자도 간접적으로 이득을 취하게 되는 질서의 가치를 일컫는 것 같습니다.
공동선은 특정 행위자가 공동체의 일원으로서 다른 공동체의 일원들을 돕기 위해 행했을 때 다른 공동체의 일원에게 직접적으로 도움을 주는 질서의 가치를 일컫는 것 같습니다.

어떤 맥락의 글을 읽으셨는지 제가 알 수 없어서 조심스럽지만, 아마 ‘goods’를 ‘선’이 아니라 ‘재화’라고 번역해야 하는 게 아닐까 해요. 댓글의 스탠포드 백과의 정의처럼, 이게 ’경제 이론(ecomomic theory)’에서 등장하는 개념이면서 일종의 ‘시설(facilities, 설비)’이라면요. 실제로, 인터넷을 찾아 보니 ’common goods’와 ‘public goods’를 각각 ‘공유재’와 ‘공공재’로 번역하네요. 스탠포드 철학백과 항목에도 이런 예시가 있고요.
Some canonical examples of the common good in a modern liberal democracy include: the road system; public parks; police protection and public safety; courts and the judicial system; public schools; museums and cultural institutions; public transportation; civil liberties, such as the freedom of speech and the freedom of association; the system of property; clean air and clean water; and national defense.
그러니까, ‘common goods'이 지혜나 아름다움 같은 덕목이 아니라, 도로 시스템, 공공 공원, 정치적 보호, 공공 안전 같은 사회 시설을 의미한다는 거죠.
덕목이 아니라 재화라고 읽으니 확실히 더 깔끔하게 읽히네요 두분 모두 감사드립니다
